Ingredients for Candy Board

10 lbs of granulated sugar
1 cup of water
1 tablespoon of white vinegar
Optional: Protein supplement or essential oils for bees

Instructions for Candy Board

In a large saucepan, combine sugar, water, and vinegar over medium heat.
Stir until the sugar dissolves and the mixture reaches a temperature of 240°F (116°C) on a candy thermometer.
Remove from heat and let it cool slightly before pouring into a mold or directly on your candy board frame.
If desired, add protein supplements or essential oils once the candy mixture is cooled but still pliable.
Allow the candy to harden completely before placing it in the hive.

Insulation

Insulating your hive is essential for maintaining a stable temperature inside the colony. This can be done using materials such as polystyrene, foam boards, or even straw to provide an effective barrier against the harsh winter winds.
